Can I get a Commission?

I’m always happy to take on commissions, whether you’re looking for something personal, a special gift, or a piece to fit a particular space. If you have an idea in mind—or even just a starting point—get in touch, and we can explore the possibilities. The process is simple, and I’ll guide you through each step. See the full process and examples of my previous commissions below.

Wedding Commissions

If you are looking forward to a special day and are looking for bespoke artwork to commemorate your wedding day, I can offer a service of handmade cards for you to invite your guests, beautiful handmade brooches for Mother of the bride/groom/head bridesmaid/groom etc and for your home- a specially commissioned artwork of your wedding bouquet- printed and painted or printed and embroidered. This is a unique keepsake that lasts and doesn’t fade or discolour and can be tailored to your home décor.

The Process

1)  Initial Meeting

We’ll discuss your vision, purpose, and the intended location for the artwork. This can take place in person (depending on distance), via phone, or over Zoom/Teams. A commission is a collaborative process, and any reference images you can provide at this stage will be helpful. We’ll also cover details like style, media, colours, size, and format to guide the drafting process.

2. Contract & Deposit
A contract will outline key details, including payment terms, deadlines, and delivery or collection arrangements. Once agreed, a deposit is required to confirm the commission. This will be deducted from the final cost.

3. Initial Sketches & Feedback
I’ll create preliminary design options for you to review. We’ll arrange a meeting to go over these, and if needed, revisions can be made before moving forward with the final piece.

4. Creating the Final Artwork
Once the sketches are approved, I’ll begin working on the final piece. Commissions can take up to six months, depending on complexity.

5. Final Approval & Payment
Before handover, we’ll confirm all final details, referring back to the contract. The remaining balance is then paid, and the artwork is delivered or collected as agreed.

Recent Commission

After seeing Louise's lovely artwork at a gallery in Newport, I contacted her to commission a bespoke piece for our bedroom. We wanted a natural landscape blending places meaningful to us (New Zealand and Cheddar Gorge), with colours to suit our decor.

Louise was friendly and professional, and visited our home to see the space, show samples, and discuss sizing, colours, framing and materials. She offered budget-friendly options, and we chose two side-by-side pieces to reduce framing costs.

Louise also sent progress photos, which helped us see how things were shaping up We’re absolutely delighted with the finished work — it’s beautiful, unique, and we’re proud to have supported a local artist. Thanks, Louise!
